Construction Update Video - January 2024
The North London Heat and Power Project (NLHPP) produce regular construction update videos to show the progress that is being made on site to redevelop Edmonton EcoPark into a new sustainable waste hub.
On 22 January 2024, the NLHPP celebrated its five-year construction anniversary at the EcoPark. Our latest video celebrates the achievements we have made on site and across the project.
Over the last five years we’ve overseen the construction of brand-new recycling facilities that will open shortly. Preparatory works started on site in January 2019 and our project team and contractors worked together to ensure the works were completed on time for Taylor Woodrow to start constructing the brand-new recycling facilities for north London. This includes the new Reuse and Recycling Centre, the Resource Recovery Facility and a new community and education centre called EcoPark House, that are due to be handed over for operation shortly. In 2022, ACCIONA started work to deliver the replacement Energy Recovery Facility which is now well underway and we are seeing great progress. In the video, we look back over the key milestones we have achieved and celebrate the work that has got the site to where it is today.
In addition to the construction works, we have maximised our social value offering through community and school engagement, providing opportunities for local people and businesses including apprenticeships, training placements and employment. In the video, you’ll hear from our Social Value Lead who highlights this fantastic work which, alongside our other activities, is reflected in the 20 awards the NLHPP has been nominated for, shortlisted and won.
