NLHPP construction update video – Autumn 2023

6 Oct 2023

Watch our latest construction update to see the great progress we have made on site over the last few months to build brand new waste management and recycling facilities for north London. You’ll hear about the great work we’re doing with the local community as one of the community groups we have supported as part of our RE-Power Communities programme tells us how we have helped them to create an inclusive community space. RE-Power Communities is our commitment to giving time and resources to support voluntary, community, and social enterprise organisations operating across north London.

We are making great progress to prepare the EcoPark for the construction of the Energy Recovery Facility, which is where unrecyclable rubbish will be used to generate electricity for up to 127,000 homes in Enfield. It will also provide low-carbon heating for more than 60,000 local homes and businesses. We have reached a major milestone here as we have started to construct the walls of the main bunker, which is where rubbish will be held before it is treated in the Energy Recovery Facility. The walls are being built using a slipform methods, which involves concrete being poured continuously for 24 hours over a two-week period.

At the EcoPark South site, where we are building brand new recycling facilities and an education and visitor centre called EcoPark House, we are pleased that works are progressing significantly and we are currently carrying out some of the internal and external finishes of the buildings.
