Construction update – December 2021
2021 has been a landmark year for North London Waste Authority as we have made significant progress to upgrade Edmonton EcoPark to deliver brand new waste management and recycling facilities for north London.
We've been managing the rubbish produced by north London residents that cannot be recycled at Edmonton EcoPark for the last 50 years, stopping over 21 million tonnes of rubbish being sent to landfill and buried in the ground.
As part of the upgrade, we’re building brand new, modern recycling facilities to help increase recycling rates in north London. At the start of 2021, the first major construction works to build these recycling facilities, which includes a new Resource Recovery Facility, public Reuse and Recycling Centre, and a new visitor and education centre known as EcoPark House started and are now well underway.
We’re also building the greenest Energy Recovery Facility in the country. To make way for this facility, we have cleared the northern area of the site and construction of a Temporary Bulky Waste Facility is now underway, while the recycling facilities are being built.
