Training placements

We are creating at least 225 on-site training placements offered to local residents who are a school or college leaver, or unemployed. As part of the short-term training placement, trainees will learn essential skills on a live construction project, complete training courses and work towards obtaining a Construction Skills Certificate Scheme (CSCS) card.

How do I apply for a training placement?

Delivery of the training placements will resume in mid autumn 2022. If you are interested and would like to register your interest to be an NLHPP trainee, please contact NLHPP@NLWA.gov.uk with the following information:

  • Name
  • North London borough of residence

Women into Construction 

Women into Construction are offering a five-week employment and training programme for unemployed women to gain an introduction into the construction industry and the range of jobs available.

Work experience available includes Engineering Assistant, Administration, Trainee Quantity Surveyor, Project Assurance, Project Manager,  Document Controller, Traffic Marshall and many more! The programme is open to women aged 18 and over who are residents in Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney,  Haringey, Islington and Waltham Forest. The programme offers:

  • Construction-related training including CSCS Card
  • Guidance for writing a CV, job applications and interview skills
  • Placement opportunities with participating employers
  • On-site work experience at Edmonton EcoPark
  • 1:1 WiC support including travel and childcare expenses
