How will the energy be used?
Through treating non-recyclable waste as a resource for society, the new Energy Recovery Facility will provide reliable, decentralised, low-carbon electricity and can support low carbon heat for local heat networks. It will be capable of exporting power to the national grid and providing heat to the Meridian Water Heat Network and will provide enough energy to serve the needs of 127,000 homes. That’s equivalent to more than every household in the borough of Enfield.
The current facility generates enough energy to supply 80,000 homes.
